Laser-cutting Box Net Designs

I started to look into box nets and which ones I was planning to use.

One of these nets I had found online and the other I had made using the measurements I had for the bottles which I had ordered.

COP 3 Practical Crit 2

During the first week back after the christmas break as few of us decided to have a quick crit on our practical pieces so far. I had shown some of the designs for logos which I had done.

I wanted an opinion on which one to go with as there was a few which I liked and thought would have worked well.

Almost straight away people had said that they thought the designs with the sans serif font worked better in communicating messages of being contemporary.

They also said that they preferred the designs with the white background behind the Cinq logo.

New Idea and Initial Designs

Since the last crit I have developed my idea and now have a proper concept surrounding the practical.

The name of the beer will be either be related to or in conjunction with the drinks alcohol percentage which is 5.2% - the relevance of this is the fact that this used to be Stella Artois' original percentage before the 'wife-beater' became associated with the drink.

The design of the drink is also aimed to be an average but not high - end beer, that is contemporary, a honest representation of what the brand is from majority of the people who partook my survey conveyed.

Here I was thinking of ways of naming the brand which were related to the methods I have spoken about throughout the written element.  I used languages and themes which were related to Stella Artois' history and heritage.

I then took the most successful names and started to design them in Illustrator

I then narrowed these down to a few which I thought looked the best.

After choosing 2 from these I began to stylise and add colour to these logos.

I then started to use the most sucessful of these with the Stella Artois logo in combination with a few different shapes and patterns.

Survey Questionnaire

I had sent out a survey questionnaire which was going to be used in my dissertation and practical and was aimed at collecting both qualitative and quantitate data.

Stella Artois & Packaging Market Research

Considering that I was now going to be rebranding a new drink for Stella Artois and was indeed going to be designing a box I decided to do some research into what sort and how many different types of boxes that you would find in a supermarket beer aisle.

COP 3 Practical Crit

During the first crit which we had for the practical, I spoke about the designs I had done and also spoke through what I had planned to do after that.

I was advised to create a new drink under the name of Stella Artois instead of rebrand Stella Artois, as the branding for that was already very strong and would not be a very ethical choice.

They did agree to what I had in mind for my deliverables though:

  • Logo
  • Bottle
  • 12 Pack Box
  • 4 Pack Carry Case
  • Coaster
  • Keg
  • Chalice

Initial Practical Ideas

I had started to note down some ideas of what I was planning to do for my practical element.

I did some rough sketches then decided to take them into illustrator and to an extent have some level of finalised logo for the sake of the crit.
